Housed in the train station building, constructed by Victor Laloux for the 1900 World Fair, the Orsay is a national museum devoted to all the arts between 1848-1914.

This multi-faceted museum organises seasons of exhibitions, concerts, cinema festivals and conferences based on a common theme.
Despite the great wealth of French art of the period, the museum also includes artists from other countries thanks to its foreign art acquisition and exhibition policy.
The Orsay museum holds temporary exhibitions to spread its renown around the world and promote international exchanges. Since 1st January 2004, the Orsay museum has enjoyed the status of Public Institution of administrative nature.
