
Presentation
Opened in 1934 and situated in the 17th century Hôtel de Miramion, the AP-HP Museum spans the history of hospitals in Paris from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century in its various aspects : social and religious history, the history of medicine and the medical professions, the images of the human body and its diseases.
It aims to unlock and question the past, and by comparing past and present shed some light onto the purpose of recent trends.
The Museum’s collections numbers nearly 10.000 items : paintings, engravings and drawings, sculptures, liturgical clothing, pharmaceutic items, medical instruments, nursing equipement, hospital furniture, archives and treatises.
Some of these works and objects are put on display during regularly occurring special exhibitions.Hidden at the center of the courtyard of the Hôtel de Miramion, the Garden of simples provides a link between medical plants and pharmaceutic objects.
